my word work
Why I Edit
I seek to save the world from poor grammar and syntax. It’s kind of my superpower.
No one can fully distance themselves from their work. Not to talk myself out of a job, but an editor can help you create that perspective over time.
I want to prepare you for the questions your readers will ask.
You have something important to say. If you say it well, more people will hear you.
Why I Write
Writing maps of our internal and external worlds. My creative writing is my manual for my personal operating system. It also takes the loose lumber lying in my brain and turns it into houses.
Writing is a great mental workout. It’s like a Rubik’s cube I never end up shouting at. Playing with language gives me a sense of wonder and playfulness. It’s also a productive way to be alone. I enjoy people, but only in small doses.
In short, I write to tell people what I otherwise cannot. And I write because I chose to write in the past and, on some days, choose to continue.

my thoughts on words:
Critical thinking and language go hand-in-hand.
Writing makes thoughts concrete.
Reading can help us broaden understanding and empathy.
The words we use and read shape what we perceive about the world.
